My Lazy Relationship with Music

“I couldn’t sleep last night,” I once told my friends. “My floormates were being loud.”

“Why didn’t you put in your headphones?” one asked.

“Because my phone was charging on the other side of the room, so I couldn’t listen to music.”

“What about your iPod?”

“What iPod?” I asked. “Have you ever once seen me with one? I don’t own an iPod.”

“So where do you keep all your music?” another friend asked.

Gospel Choir: To Stay or Not?

That’s right! This is, for those of you who don’t know, my second semester as a member of my university’s gospel choir. Us Against the World

You know those songs from your childhood that you absolutely adored with an undying passion? Those songs that, when you’re older, you look back on cringing, yet still know all the words to?

Today I found myself humming this song to myself. I don’t know why, or where it even came from, but I decided to go find it on YouTube to try and get it out of my system. All I can say is… wow. My musical tastes just weren’t refined as a kid.

Back when Lizzie McGuire was my idol and I the Olsen twins were still cute, this song, “Us Against the World” by Play, was all the rage. I still remember that my best friend Robin lent me this CD and I had my brother-in-law burn it for me. I played it on and on and on, even though there were only four songs on it and this one was really the only one I liked.

This song came out ten years and six months ago. Talking about suddenly feeling very, very aged.

I’ve got to admit, though, this song is really, really catchy….

Do you have any somewhat embarrassing songs you still (sadly) know all the words to?
