Things you should know:
- I’m a practicing Catholic.
- I take Lent pretty seriously.
As long as I remember, I’ve given something up for Lent. This year is no different; in fact, being my first Lent away from home, I’ve decided it’s time to step up and go big. At my parents’ behest, I’ve never fasted on Fridays, and when I give up things for Lent, they’re things that aren’t necessarily hard to give up. Last year, it was red meat. As much as I missed a good burger, I managed. This year, I’m actually going to give up something that I know won’t be easy.
Facebook. Twitter. Tumblr. For 40 days and 40 nights, I will be disconnected from these three social media outlets.
I’m not giving up my cell phone, as living in the city is, in my eyes, quite imprudent; I do, however, have to uninstall my apps and make sure I don’t access these sites via my mobile browser. This blog will stay open, because I don’t feel like it’s a time-sucker like the other three. Actually, I could use this extra time actually dedicating myself to writing again. I’ll probably have to vent someplace. Goodness knows I’ll suffer withdrawals.
